In conjunction with our President & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Ivison’s visit to Singapore on 27 November 2026, and in celebration of the University’s global Challenge Accepted campaign launch, we marked a special occasion with the unveiling of Dendrobium University of Manchester — our very own orchid hybrid — led by Professor Ivison together with Regional Director, Lim Bee Ing.
Officially registered with the Royal Horticultural Society (UK), this orchid is a living symbol of the Manchester 2035 vision. It reflects the purpose and aspirations of our global campaign — advancing student inclusion and success, purpose-driven research, innovation and enterprise, and culture and community — to create meaningful and lasting global impact.
Resilient, adaptable, and enduring, the Dendrobium University of Manchester also embodies the pioneering spirit of the University and the strength of our worldwide alumni community — whose continued engagement, leadership, and generosity remain central to our mission and momentum.
It further pays tribute to Singapore’s rich orchid heritage, as the nation marks 60 years of independence — a shared journey of progress, partnership, and resilience.
We were pleased to share this occasion with Prof Stephen Flint, Dr Clara Cheung, Prof John Holden, Osama Bhutta, Richard Cotton, Markus Karlsson-Jones, Georgia Davies, Owen Jones & Rob Smailes — thank you for your presence and support.
A modest ceremony, but one that meaningfully reflects the ambition of our campaign and the future we seek to shape together.
