About AMBS

“ Building the next generation of responsible leaders is at our core, with social responsibility at the heart of our teaching and research. The University will do this by encouraging passion for curiosity, innovation and lifelong learning while also providing the skills leaders will need, in business and education. ”

At Alliance Manchester Business School, ‘Original Thinking Applied’ sits at the heart of everything we do.

With triple accreditation from AACSB International, AMBA and EQUIS, we provide world-class, industry-focused education to students and executives across the globe.

Our centres in Manchester, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore open a world of opportunities for our students, researchers and clients. All over the world, we engage with businesses of all sizes to share expertise and form rewarding partnerships.

Over the years, we have developed strong ties with leading professional service bodies, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) and International Compliance Association (ICA), among others.

Ranked 3rd in the UK for research power, our influential research impacts all areas of business and management – from accounting and health management to big data and human rights.

Most recently, we were ranked 5th in the UK and 46th in the world in the Financial Times’s Global MBA Ranking. We are the most targeted university by the UK’s top 100 recruiters according to the High Fliers report on The Graduate Market in 2023. Our MBA was also ranked 6th in the world in the QS Online MBA Rankings 2024.

Established in 1965 as one of the UK’s first two business schools, we are proud to be part of the prestigious University of Manchester and the UK’s largest campus-based business and management school.

A key moment in our history, in 2015 we were renamed Alliance Manchester Business School in recognition of Lord Alliance’s generous £15 million donation and his long-standing relationship with the University and the Business School.
