Our Centre Director kicked off the night by giving a welcome speech to a room full of the July 2022 cohort of Global MBA & Sept 2022 cohort of MSc Financial Management students as they embark on their new journey with The University of Manchester. The session was delivered via Zoom for students residing outside of Singapore. Thereafter, an introduction to Manchester Business School Alumni Association Singapore was delivered by the Vice President, Mr Teo Teck Loon.
We had specially engaged Ms Jenny Lie, Corporate Brand Trainer, and Coach from Imageworks to deliver a workshop on ‘The Art of Networking and Cross-Cultural Communication’. She guided the students through some reflection and a change of mindset which included developing the right attitude and more. The networking strategy was shared for mapping it out with clarity. There was a total of 5 skills that were imparted.
Our new students immediately used their newly acquired skills to initiate hello and ‘work the room’ with their fellow course mates. We gathered good feedback from this cohort that they find the art of networking important, especially tips on how to join and exit a group setting and how to start a conversation.
