Social Responsibility Part 6 of 6 – Alumni Profile: Mr Marc Leong

Mr. Marc Leong, Executive Vice President, Head of SME Banking at Maybank Singapore, spearheads all areas of strategy, business, product development, technology capabilities, and asset quality management for the SME Business segment of Maybank Singapore. Marc attributes his career achievements to his final year assignment at The University of Manchester, which landed him a position in the Fintech space, where he was offered a role in SME Banking.

Marc is always determined to make a difference in the community. When he was part of the Executive Committee of the Singapore Fintech Association from 2019 to 2021, he helped a spectrum of businesses overcome the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and support entrepreneurship.

“The ‘Butterfly Effect’ inspires me. All it takes is to put into action a kind intention, and the ripple effect will impact many things over time,” Marc said.

Marc is also a zealous supporter of UOM’s yearly fundraising initiatives, with no exception last year, as he believes that the future of Singapore and its sustainability lie in today’s youth.
