Trump 2.0: Business & Trade, Tarrifs and the Impact on Southeast Asia
What a way to kick off Vital Topics Global – right here in Singapore!
As part of Alliance Manchester Business School’s 60th anniversary celebrations, we are proud to launch the international edition of the flagship Vital Topics lecture series at the South East Asia Centre – generously sponsored by RENAKER, Manchester’s leading property developer. This special event is held in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham)
The panel featured four senior industry leaders – Asif Chaudhury, Christy Tan, Paul Griffiths, and Chris Wright – with Christy Tan and Asif Chaudhury, proudly representing The University of Manchester as distinguished alumni. Together, they explored how Southeast Asia can navigate the complexities of shifting U.S. trade policies while keeping sustainability, innovation, and DEI at the heart of long-term strategy. Our heartfelt thanks to all four panellists for sharing their deep expertise, bold perspectives, and practical strategies in the geopolitically volatile landscape.
Our special thanks to Wayne Soo, Emeritus Founding President of the AMBS Alumni Association of Singapore and Advisor to the Association, and Louise Beazor, Head of Trade Services at BritCham, for their opening remarks. We also extend our sincere appreciation to BritCham for their valued collaboration and support.
Our sincere thanks to all attendees – both in-person and online – for your thoughtful questions, dynamic engagement, and continued enthusiasm for learning and collaboration.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to industry leaders Mok Hon Yong, You Song Tien, Bernard Lim, and Alex Thexton for sharing grounded perspectives on how recent policy changes are influencing business planning and supply chain strategies within their organisations.
To everyone who braved the rainy weekday morning in person – and those who tuned in bright and early via Zoom – thank you for bringing the energy and making the networking sessions such a buzz! 💪
